DS 148/1 Main Pumping Station ‘Q’ – Phase 1
Wade Adams constructed and commissioned the Sewage Pumping Station including GRP pressure mains and a storm water retention pond with circular fountains. The project included procurement, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the Pumping Stations and mains.
The main Sewerage Pumping Station was constructed with reinforced concrete some 17 meters deep in saturated soils requiring full time dewatering by deep well and well pointing methods.
Construction included approximately:
5 kilometers of 1300mm diameter GRP pressure main with air release valve chambers and washout valve chambers.
4 kilometers of 600mm to 1500mm diameter GRP gravity mains manholes.
Pipes were installed at a maximum depth of 9 meters and included 13 crossings which required non-destructive, trenchless technology and micro-tunneling. Part of the line was in sub-highway galleries. Thrust blocks were piled.
The project also included the construction of a lined Storm Water Retention Pond with recirculation fountains. The construction of a Storm Water Pumping Station was in reinforced concrete.
