R 790 – BUKIDRA INTERCHANGES AND ROAD WORKS

"The main scope of this project was the upgrading of roads and interchanges in the Bukindra area to enable free flow of traffic from the Dubai - Al Ain Road to Nad Al Sheba, Oud Metha Road, Ras Al Khor Road and the future Al Khail Road.

One of the principal challenges on the project was dealing with heavy traffic on one of the most demanding areas in the Emirate . Disruption to the traffic was eliminated through meticulous planning and traffic management ".

The project consisted of ten post tensioned bridges that comprised:

  • 1,500 metres length of bridge works
  • 4,001 tons of steel
  • 21,600 cubic metres of concrete
  • 603,955 square metres of wearing course

Included in the scope of the project were several services including water, drainage and irrigation summing as follows;

  • 10,000 m of water pipeline
  • 7,800 m of irrigation pipeline
  • 4,500 m of drainage pipeline
